7 SUMMER TIPS FOR YOUR CURL CARE

    Now it's getting hot! 😏

Spring is in all its glory! 🌷This means that summer is not long in coming - the perfect occasion to get acquainted with hair care in the hot months. Do you already have all-round protection for your magnificent curls? 👩🏻‍

PROTECT WHAT IS SACRED TO YOU

    Especially in summer! ☀️

THE BEST SUMMER TIPS FOR YOUR CURL CARE:

    1. SUN PROTECTION

    Enjoy the sun

Your hair and scalp can also suffer from sun damage. Protect it with a cloth or a hat, for example, because sunburn on the scalp affects hair growth and affects the hair follicles. This can lead to thinning of your hair or, in some cases, hair loss.    Use products with UV protection, because naked curls absorb the sun's rays, which breaks down melanin and can discolour the hair. In addition, the disulfide bridges (protein stabilizer) of the hair could be opened, which can lead to texture changes and hair damage.

    2. PROTECTION AGAINST SALT AND CHLORINE WATER

    stay hydrated

When dry, your hair absorbs chlorine and salt immediately and this can lead to discoloration and dehydration. If you wet your hair first and if necessary coat it with oil to seal the cuticle, less chlorine and chemicals will be absorbed. You should also rinse your hair with clear water after bathing and apply your favorite leave-in again and again.

    3.  YOUR SUMMER WASHING ROUTINE

    Wash day

In summer we usually wash our hair more often, so our care should be adjusted accordingly.

If you need to wash your curls more often, try a co-wash. This cleans your hair without removing too much moisture. Note: Every now and then you should use a clarifying shampoo to avoid build-up.

    4. CARE, CARE, CARE

    Conditioning is key

The hot months can  really take a toll on your curls. Therefore, comprehensive care is essential. (Deep) conditioners and masks are a must-have for your skin care routine in summer!

Better safe than sorry! Your hair will thank you if you prevent it from drying out in advance. If your curls have gotten a little too much sun or other irritants, products containing protein will help you to restore the structure of the hair.

    5. PREP STYLE FINISH

    styling routine

So-called humectants and emollients play an important role in this method . Humectants are used in products to promote moisture retention by drawing water molecules from the local environment. For example, a common humectant is glycerin.

Emollients form a film on the hair surface, have a sealing effect and are therefore considered anti-moisture-loss agents. Common emollients are, for example, shea butter or castor oil. But how do we use these ingredients in a targeted manner?

    • PREP: Apply a moisturizing (Humectant) product to wet hair, e.g. B. a leave-in conditioner. Water (aqua) should be listed first among the ingredients.
    • STYLE: Seal in  moisture with emollients like a curl defining cream, gel or mousse. Note: There are styling products that already combine both ingredients (humectants and emollients).
    • FINISH:  To fix the styling result you have achieved, it is best to use a gel or mousse.

    6. NEXT DAY CURLS

    refresh

Depending on your needs, you can refresh your curls while they are dry, or use a little water to revitalize them. If individual sections are frizzy or look saggy, you can reapply your favorite product and use a styling technique such as finger coiling, scrunching, or brush styling

    7. DRYING

    Air dry

Why not take a break from diffusing? Too frequent blow-drying can dry out the curls and strain the hair structure. Use the warm air temperature to let your hair dry without strong heat and see how your hair feels. Suitable for this:
